Pathology Department

The Department of Pathology of Beijing Ditan Hospital was established in 1978. With the development of the National Center for Infectious Disease (Beijing) and the hospital’s comprehensive growth, its clinical diagnostic scope has expanded significantly, covering subspecialties such as infectious disease pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, neuropathology, gynecologic pathology, dermatopathology, and urologic pathology. The Department is nationally recognized for its expertise in hepatic pathology and infectious disease pathology, holding a leading position in China. Currently, its services include routine histopathology, special staining techniques, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology for tumors, tumor genetic testing, common pathogenic genetic testing, mycobacterial typing, pharmacogenomic testing, and genetic testing for inherited metabolic liver disorders, etc.

The Department prioritizes academic development, conducting extensive research in hepatic pathology, infectious disease pathology, and technology transfer. Over the past five years, it has secured over 10 national and provincial-, ministerial-level research grants and published over 30 SCI-indexed papers. In education, it was designated as a Master’s Degree Training Base in Clinical Pathology under Capital Medical University in 2022 and has long hosted the Beijing Ditan Hepatic Pathology Diagnosis National Continuing Medical Education Training Program, while continuously accepting visiting pathologists and technicians from domestic institutions for advanced training.
