Nutrition Department
The Department of Nutrition of Beijing Ditan Hospital originated from the Nutrition Unit established in 1973 and was officially founded as an independent department in 2004. After decades of development, it has evolved into a mature professional department integrating medical care, education, and scientific research.
In clinical practice, the Department operates specialized clinics including the Maternal Nutrition Clinic and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Multi-Disciplinary Treatment (MDT) Clinic, providing personalized nutritional guidance for specific populations. It oversees comprehensive nutritional screening and assessment for all inpatients, actively conducts nutritional consultations, and formulates tailored nutritional treatment plans for patients with special dietary requirements across departments. Additionally, the Department provides professional training for therapeutic diet chefs and clinical dietitians to ensure continuous nutritional support throughout patient treatment.
Over the years, the Department has accumulated extensive expertise in nutritional support therapy for liver diseases, infectious diseases, and enteral nutrition therapy, forming a distinctive nutritional treatment system. Notably, it has achieved remarkable outcomes in nutritional interventions for hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver failure, and kidney diseases through its professional expertise.
In scientific research, the Department has published numerous papers in core journals, with research focusing on nutritional management for HIV/AIDS patients and nutritional screening for gestational diabetes complicated by liver diseases. Current research priorities include weight and nutritional management for patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as well as nutritional interventions for patients with decompensated cirrhosis, aiming to deliver more precise and efficient nutritional support.
