Center for Liver Diseases
The Center for Liver Diseases at Beijing Ditan Hospital, a traditional flagship discipline, integrates medical care, education, research, and prevention, currently operating six specialized disease-specific outpatient clinics. As an affiliated teaching center for Peking University Health Science Center and Capital Medical University, it holds accreditation from the municipal Health Commission as a training base for advanced training of resident physicians in internal medicine (infectious diseases), a hub for integrated medical-public health education, and a National Advanced Training Center for Hepatologists.
Consistently adhering to a "patient-centered" philosophy, the Center has dedicated decades to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of complex and severe liver diseases, pioneering original research, and translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications. Specializing in conditions such as decompensation of cirrhosis, hepatitis B virus infection, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD), alcoholic liver disease, drug-induced liver injury, and autoimmune liver diseases, it has established systematic and standardized therapeutic models, refined efficacy and prognostic evaluation strategies, and developed innovative research frameworks, maintaining a nationally leading position in the field.
The Center has undertaken over 120 research projects, including those under the National "973 Program," the 11th–13th Five-Year Plan Major National Science and Technology Projects for Infectious Diseases, grants awarded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Capital Health Development Research Fund, and other competitive funding programs. It has led or contributed to the formulation of more than 30 clinical practice guidelines for liver diseases in China, participated in over 100 international and domestic multicenter clinical trials, published over 230 high-impact papers indexed in SCI, secured more than 10 patents, and authored, co-authored, or translated over 20 authoritative monographs on hepatology.
