The Ophthalmology Department of Beijing Ditan Hospital is a comprehensive clinical department integrating medical treatment, education, scientific research, and prevention. Professional ophthalmologists can provide patients with high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. In addition to common eye diseases, the Department is particularly proficient in infection-related eye diseases and eye plastic surgery and beauty treatments.

The department can diagnose and treat a variety of eye diseases and provide eye plastic surgery services, including eye inflammation, refractive errors, strabismus/amblyopia, glaucoma, cataracts, fundus diseases, and eye trauma. The physicians in the department have extensive experience in ocular laser treatment and ophthalmic surgeries. The department can perform ocular laser treatment, ocular plastic surgery, cataract surgery and vitreoretinal surgeries of grade III and grade IV. Meanwhile, the department is equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment, including laser fundus scanners and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) systems.

In 2023, the Department established the Infectious Eye Disease Research Center of the National Center for Infectious Diseases (Beijing) through collaboration with Beijing Tongren Hospital Ophthalmology Research Institute. The Department has undertaken 8 research projects on infection-related eye diseases, published over 40 articles in core Chinese medical journals and 8 SCI-indexed papers. It has also authored two monographs on infection-related ocular diseases.
