Orthopedics Department
The Department of Orthopedics of Beijing Ditan Hospital was established in 2010, integrating medical treatment, teaching and research, and is a doctoral programme of Capital Medical University. Over a decade of development, the Department has achieved significant progress in clinical services, teaching, and scientific research, forming a distinctive focus on infectious orthopedics-particularly surgical treatment of Brucellar spondylitis-while fostering comprehensive growth across subspecialties.
The Department is characterized by minimally invasive treatments for spine and joints, including low-temperature plasma radiofrequency therapy for cervical and lumbar disc disease, UBE (Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy) and other endoscopic minimally invasive treatments for lumbar disc herniation and spinal stenosis, arthroscopic treatments for knee meniscus and cruciate ligament injuries, and PKP (Percutaneous Kyphoplasty) and PVP (Percutaneous Vertebroplasty) treatments for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures , and minimally invasive treatments for early femoral head necrosis. It also has an orthopedic digital navigation system. In terms of cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, Brucellar spondylitis surgery, artificial joint replacement surgery, etc., the Department is at the advanced level in China.
Additionally, the Department undertakes orthopedic teaching tasks for Yanjing Medical College in Beijing. It has conducted over 10 research projects including: "13th Five-Year Plan" Major Project on Infectious Diseases, Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission's Capital Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research and Demonstration Application, Capital Medical Development Fund, Beijing Municipal Education Commission's Science and Technology Plan, Hospital-level "Bridge" Research Plan. Also, the Department has led or participated in formulating 5 national clinical consensus guidelines for Brucellosis-related diagnosis and treatment, undertaken 3 international and domestic multicenter clinical studies, published over 50 high-quality SCI-indexed papers, obtained more than 20 patents, and edited, co-edited, or translated over 10 clinical and basic research monographs.
