AIDS Center

Beijing Ditan Hospital admitted its first patient with AIDS in 1987. It pioneered the establishment of AIDS wards in China as early as 1999, becoming the first Chinese hospital to implement standardized antiretroviral therapy. Additionally, it serves as the National Clinical Drug Trial Base for AIDS, the Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Research Center Affiliated with Capital Medical University, and the National Clinical Training Base for AIDS.

The center includes inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, the office of the Beijing Red Ribbon Home, and the office of the WHO Collaborating Centre. Beijing Red Ribbon Homethe first 5A-rated social organization registered with the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureaudedicated to comprehensive AIDS care. Established on January 30, 2009, the WHO Collaborating Centre operates by leveraging the abundant healthcare resources of Beijing Ditan Hospital and serves as one of China's key platforms for health technology collaboration with the WHO.

Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of AIDS-related complications, the Infection and Immunodeficiency department integrates medical services, education, research, and health education. Its outpatient antiretroviral therapy achieves a 99% success rate while maintaining domestic leadership in diagnosing and treating AIDS-associated pulmonary diseases, neurological disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, and malignancies. The department leads nationally and internationally in managing low-level viremia, drug resistance, treatment failure, and osteoporosis during antiretroviral therapy. Its project "Promotion and Application of China's AIDS Treatment Strategies and Key Technology Research" has won five Science and Technology Progress Awards.
