Urology Department
The Urology Department of Beijing Ditan Hospital, established in 2011, has progressively evolved into a comprehensive urology specialty of a 3A comprehensive hospital with distinctive features, demonstrating balanced development in medical care, education and scientific research.
The Department has established expertise in performing both routine and complex urological procedures, with over 90% of surgeries utilizing minimally invasive approaches. For stone management, it operates a 24-hour lithotripsy center and employs various techniques including rigid/flexible ureteroscopy, combined flexible ureteroscopy with percutaneous nephroscopy (dual-endoscopic lithotripsy), ultra-mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (UMP), real-time pressure-monitored flexible ureteroscopy with active deflection tip and negative pressure sheath systems, as well as personalized treatments for ureteral strictures. In prostate disease management, services include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), holmium laser, blue laser, and plasma enucleation of the prostate, and suprapubic prostatectomy. Laparoscopic and robot-assisted procedures are routinely performed, including radical resection of urological tumors, partial nephrectomy, and laparoscopic adrenal tumor removal. The Department demonstrates particular strength in managing urological conditions complicated by HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
The Department has participated in multiple research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, the Capital Health Development Research Fund, and the Sailing Program. Its academic achievements include publication of over ten high-impact SCI-indexed papers, as well as authorship, co-authorship, and translation of monographs on clinical and basic urological research.
