Neurology Department
The neurorehabilitation treatment unit provides systematic rehabilitation for patients in both acute and recovery phases, including but not limited to physical, occupational, speech, swallowing, cognitive, and psychological therapies. The unit also extends services to orthopedic patients and individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction.
The cerebrovascular disease team is capable of providing acute intravenous thrombolysis, endovascular thrombectomy for patients with ischemic stroke, and intracranial hematoma evacuation for patients with cerebral hemorrhage. The annual volume of neurointerventional procedures exceeds 300 cases, encompassing transradial/transfemoral cerebral angiography, intracranial/extracranial arterial stenting or balloon angioplasty, aneurysm embolization or clipping, and carotid endarterectomy. This comprehensive service framework establishes a closed-loop management system for the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. The team has also collaborated with the Department of Cardiology to conduct multidisciplinary clinics for synchronized cardiocerebral treatment and perform combined cardiocerebral interventional procedures. The epilepsy specialty group ensures comprehensive and safe diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients through standardized diagnosis, preoperative evaluation, surgical plan formulation, and postoperative follow-up. The neuromuscular disorders unit admits patients with conditions such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, myasthenia gravis, and polymyositis, and is capable of performing nerve and muscle biopsies.
Our department, leveraging the platform of the National Center for Infectious Diseases, specializes in central nervous system diseases associated with infections. The first specialized clinic established was the Neurosyphilis Specialty clinic.
The department's scope of diagnosis and treatment also covers movement disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, spinal cord diseases, and more. To better serve patients, the specialized clinics have been expanded and diversified, now including Dizziness Clinic, Sleep Disorders Clinic, Headache & Epilepsy Clinic, Elderly Stroke and Atherosclerosis Clinic, and Movement Disorder Clinic.
The neurosurgery auxiliary examination unit offers a range of tests utilizing advanced technology, including short-term and long-term EEG monitoring, transcranial Doppler (TCD) and bubble study, electromyography (EMG), electronystagmography (ENG), and Polysomnography (PSG).
