Introduction to Education
The hospital undertakes the critical mission of cultivating medical professionals in infectious diseases. It serves as the Twelfth Clinical Medical College of Capital Medical University and a teaching hospital for Peking University Health Science Center and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. In 2004, the hospital was designated as a National Clinical Training Base for AIDS. In 2007, it became an accredited Specialist Physician Standardized Training Base for Infectious Diseases. In 2021, it was among the first institutions in Beijing to be approved as a Beijing Integrated Medical-Public Health Infectious Disease Designated Hospital Training Base. The hospital currently hosts 24 postgraduate training programs with 64 postgraduate supervisors, including 27 doctoral supervisors.
The hospital became a teaching hospital of Peking University Health Science Center (formerly Beijing Medical College) in 1954, undertaking clinical teaching, internships, and clerkships in infectious diseases for 5-year, 7-year, and 8-year medical students from Peking University-affiliated institutions including Peking University Third Hospital, Peking University People’s Hospital, Peking University First Hospital, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Jishuitan Hospital, and Civil Aviation General Hospital, hosting nearly 300 students annually for training. In 2007, it became a Preventive Medicine Education Base for Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, completing clinical clerkship instruction for over 2,000 students, including 5-year undergraduates, 7-year Qihuang Class students, and 8-year Excellence Class students. In 2011, it became an affiliated hospital of Capital Medical University, launching training programs in clinical medicine, basic medicine, and related disciplines. Since 2020, the hospital has undertaken undergraduate teaching responsibilities for Capital Medical University Yanjing Medical College, providing internships and theoretical coursework each academic year for over 400 undergraduates majoring in Clinical Medicine (Rural-Oriented Track), Preventive Medicine, Health Inspection and Quarantine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, and Health Information Management.
As a Collaborative Unit of the Resident Standardized Training Base, the hospital has undertaken infectious diseases rotation training for over 300 resident physicians and integrated graduate students from partner hospitals, including Civil Aviation General Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Beijing Luhe Hospital, Beijing Shunyi District Hospital, Beijing Miyun District Hospital, Tsinghua Huaxin Hospital, and Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital since 2017. As the Infectious Diseases Subspecialty Base of Beijing’s Specialist Physician Standardized Training Program, the hospital has cumulatively trained more than 400 clinical physicians.
